Structuring the company

Recently I have hit a road block, a major one. I can't find business executives !! Now that IT jobs are back, people seem to prefer a job in the call center than of a business executive in a startup (thought the perks through commission are much much higher !! ). This is where I realized, I was doing a grave mistake. With the initial few clients coming from word of mouth publicity, I haven't really given full attention to structuring the company based on the clients.

As a services startup in power industry, potentially everyone is a client. Anyone who needs electricity for next 25yrs is a client. But whom do I want to concentrate on? Should I try to tap the consumer market directly or start with the bigger clients? The ironic situation would be that the bigger clients who could afford solar solutions might not prefer a startup, and the individual consumer who would cannot afford.

With this problem in mind, I set out to structure the company. To decide on the divisions and market I'll be overseeing and those I'll delegate. To choose the regions served in 1st stage and when the planned branches should start. What would be the guidelines for targets assigned to the executives working part time and those for full time.

brb with answers :-)

Gulaal - Aaramb hai prachand

Aarambh hai prachand,
Bole mastakon ke jhund,
Aaj jung ki ghadi ki tum guhaar do.
Aan baan shaan ya ki jaan ka ho daan,
Aaj ek dhanush ke baan pe utaar do,
Aarambh hai prachand,
Bole mastakon ke jhund,
Aaj jung ki ghadi ki tum guhar do
Aan baan shaan ya ki jaan ka ho daan,
Aaj ek dhanush ke baan pe utaar do,
Aarambh hai prachand…

Mann kare so praan de,
Jo mann kare so praan le,
Wahi to ek sarv shaktimaan hai.
Krishn ki pukaar hai yeh bhaagwat ka saar hai,
Ki yudh hi tho veer ka pramaan hai...
Kauravon ki bheed ho ya pandavon ka need ho,
Jo lad saka hai wohi to mahaan hai..

Jeet ki hawas nahi, kisi pe koi vash nahin,
Kya zindagi hai thokaron pe maar do,
Maut anth hai nahi tho maut se bhi kyu dare?
Yeh jaake aasmaan mein dahaad do,

Aarambh hai prachand,
Bole mastakon ke jhund,
Aaj jung ki ghadi ki tum guhar do
Aan baan shaan ya ki jaan ka ho daan,
Aaj ek dhanush ke baan pe utaar do,
Aarambh hai prachand…

Uss kavi ko aaj tum nakaar do,
Bheegti nasson mein aaj, phoolti rago mein aaj,
aag ki lapat ka tum baghaar do,

Aarambh hai prachand,
Bole mastako ke jhund,
Aaj jung ki ghadi ki tum guhar do
Aan baan shaan ya ki jaan ka ho daan,
Aaj ek dhanush ke baan pe utaar do,
Aarambh hai prachand
Hoye hoye hoye…

I'm just not able to get over Gulaal lyrics.
"Jeet ki hawas nahi, kisi pe koi vash nahin,
Kya zindagi hai thokaron pe maar do,
Maut anth hai nahi tho maut se bhi kyu dare?
Yeh jaake aasmaan mein dahaad do"

How could someone write such lyrics? What mindset should one be in to do that ??? Damn ... I have listened to the song a min of 50times over the last 10hrs. I just just just cant get over the lyrics. Each line has such depth !!

Gulaal - Lyrics
Leader - Screenplay
Prasthanam - Dialogues
Raajneeti - Story

Fear of unknown %$*&#@%

Nowadays I have soo many updates/experiences that when I sit to write them down I feel lazy that I have to write SOOO much, and eventually I write nothing :D

Life has been good, work is progressing at a faster rate than I expected. So far good. When life is on a smooth ride, there's always a roadbump, a speedbreaker, to slow you down. I'm still waiting for it and I hope it wouldn't be in line of work.

Two of my college seniors n close friends are getting married. Awesome!! Been a while (since Nov) since I attended a marriage where I know both groom n bride :-)

I happened to see Gulaal yesterday, man awesome lyrics. I have no clue how I missed this movie. All the recent political movies I saw have been amazing, simple amazing. 1st it was leader, a good political movie after quite sometime. Then came Prasthanam, it literally overshadowed leader's story in my heart. and along came Rajneeti, and now Gulaal.

I see a general decline in the online presence of my batchmates. Not just IIIT, but in general. Earlier they used to blog, be active on fb, have witty status mesgs on gtalk, send those funny n some stupid fwd mails etc etc. Nowadays I don't see any of those happening. No blogs, invisible mode in gtalk, n activity on fb would limit to personal mesgs sent to someone on their list or sharing some videos.
Another sign of getting old ??! If this is 25, what will happen at 30 !!! Scares me :-)

My 1st accident

I have a very good track record, no accidents or even a scratch on my bike in last 3+yrs. Today was my 1st accident, and here goes the story

Now... this is a story all about how
my life got flipped, turned upside down,
and I'd like to take a minute, just sit right there
I'll tell you how I met with my 1st accident fair.

In... Hyderabad I started to drive,
and 3yrs I drove car and bike,
chillin' out, maxin', relaxin', all cool
and without an accident I burnt all the fuel.

When a friend sent a sms "I'm up to no good"
I was driving on the road with no hood,
I replied back how sweet I am ,
when everyone on road I gave a damn.

I lift my eyes "bang" I hit the rear,
the auto driver gave me the worst stare,
His legs scratched and my handle bent,
all I could do is offer my money unspent.

I pulled up to friends house about seven or eight
and I yelled to her "yo home, and I feel great,"
I looked at my bike, still scratch less,
and decided it was all in gods bless.

So, thats the story. I know I screwed the song, but it started very nice in my mind, but soon I couldn't find the right words, and too tired to spend more time :D
So My bike and I stand scratchless, while the poor auto guy had his legs scratched and auto with a big dent. I offered him 200bucks and left the place, went shopping for office furniture and now back home.

Hungry, dinner time :-)

Cribbing !

I'm going bald !! Nope I don't have a bald head yet, but I know I'm going bald.

A year back girls in my office used to cry over the fact that my hair is more silky. I always loved to take care of my hair. For the last 6months I neglected it, very badly. And for the last two months I have been roaming around in the sun without any headgear.

You know what happens, the hair becomes dry, very dry. And also start to have a receding hairline, which sucks. But then do I really have an option?? If I use any headgear (helmet or cloth), I'd have flat hair by the time I go to meet my clients. If I do not use a helmet I have receding hair :(

God save me :( I don't want to die bald.

The excitement !!

What happens when a kid who just started his business, gets to meet a multimillion dollar company chairman and ceo through his contacts, shakes hand, sips tea at his residence and discusses work with him?

He grins. Oh yah, my uncle introduced me to some xyz who is a classmate of this abc, chairman and ceo of a lmn company. And later xyz and I met this abc. xyz was telling me later that I had this constant smile on my face and a spark of excitement in my eyes which apparently is a good thing coz it reassures the person :-)

So yah thats how my Sunday went. Woke up at 5:30AM, got ready and met these people from 9 to 12 !! Not that I would have had any better thing to do, but I do miss the lazy sunday morning.

I know how silly this post sounds/reads, but I'm a bit excited. Hence the post.

Lessons learnt:
1. Take tea/coffee when its offered, don't overact :P Its a sign of disrespect if you reject whats being offered at the persons residence.
2. Put on easy to remove shoes when going to meet at a residence.

Updates !!

There are probably a million things I want to pen down:

1. Work is good, pretty smooth start till now. I have one employee working full time, one part time, one consultant and two on contract basis for electrical works.
2. Also jumping into LED works. Its all energy saving afterall :-)
3. It JUST started raining, as I'm writing this :D
4. Life is getting boring apart from work excitement. Waiting for friends to get married.
I attended a marriage recently, an acquaintance from business and I realized how much fun it would have been if all my friends were in India. sob sob

5. I'm expanding my office to take over the whole hall. Roomies are being supportive, poor guys :D
6. I have to buy a lot of office furniture. Already bought a all-in-one printer. Need three computer tables, two chairs etc.
7. My friend is coming from Dubai to help me with the technical stuff. He'll stay for a few days with me.
8. My brochures and website would be ready by wednesday. I'm sooo excited :D
9. Ahh ...what else, oh yah I lost 5pounds :D I'm fit again.

The only sad story rt now is I keep having these silly fights with someone I really don't want to. Life is sooooo simple but some people just complicate it huh!!

I could write a lot more, but I got to be elsewhere now :-) adios

Tensed ?

I always knew I have a good knack to run business', but never knew starting one would be such a hassle :-). There are a million little things to take care of and its a chicken or the egg story at every step!!

Phew ...

Business kickoff is good, but looking at the number of solar power plants coming up, I'm really tensed about the new competition. I really feel, I should have started back in 2008 when I initially decided, but then no point thinking over it rt :-). Looks like I have lost the opportunity to build a solar plant till 2013, atleast for public purchase. Ofcourse we never know how things would go in the private sector.

There is this incredible wealth of information I have acquired over the last few months, (inspite of my laziness ;) ) which I just hope I could put to proper use. All I need from here, is patience, persistence and self motivation.

I hired an engineer who will be my trump card for the next step, he is expected to join from June 1st, which means I'll have to take an office space or atleast 2 cubicles/cabins. More costs.

I'll be using tempest advertising for all PR related stuff including website, brochure etc etc. Doesn't come cheap, but then I could invest that time in my business. Outsourcing is how we have lived.

Just few updates from the back of my mind, got a long day ahead, time is running by, and its already Friday :( wish the clock rotates back 1yr :D

On a different note, as a sequel to this post (http://saaketh-preetham.blogspot.com/2008/05/i-cheat-on-her.html) I bought a new mobile, my 3rd phone in 6yrs. I had to sell the HTC due to its battery backup. Bought a Nokia 7230 (http://www.nokia.co.in/find-products/products/nokia-7230), basic features, no touch screen (I don't like touch), good battery backup, wide screen. Thats all I need :-) n Oh its a slide phone, I always had a thing for slide phones :-). Strange that Nokia didn't come up with a piece like this earlier. But better late than never isn't it.

I had a nice 3day trip home, not to relax though, along with few family members. I had to sleep for a day after coming back :D but it was worth it. Had lot of laughs, miss cousins, it would have been a blast if any/all of them were in India. huh !!

The hard truth !!!

My heart has been bleeding blood for quite a while regarding the focus of media on non-trivial issues.

Today, Shashi Tharoor, in his interview to NDTV made a question, just one question to Barkha Dutt. In the last few weeks there were a couple of highly placed delegates who visited India, there were some PMs who visited India, there are soo many things happening in the ministry of external affairs and he tweets about them too. So why didn't any media report any of these. Why is media only focussed on controversies with no proof and why doesn't it report to the public the actual happenings in the govt, things that actually make a difference to thier lives, things that change the way of living.

I love Hindu, for it stands to be the only newspaper which just mentioned Sachins 200 in front page and detailed article in sports page on a day when there were other major political changes happening. It remains to be the only paper whose main article remains to be the PMs visit and policies on nuclear deal and secondary article on Tharoor. It happens to be the only print or otherwise media which appears to maintain the integrity.

I bow to thee !!!

I'm hiring

1st lesson learnt in business, don't try to do everything yourself to save 10bucks, you could earn a 100 if the time is utilized otherwise !!!

I tried to overdo things, take care of office design, website design, certifications, registrations, accounts, blah blah blah everything. Net result I lost focus for a while, on what is the most important thing, actual business. Luckily I didn't lose much as govt is drafting some new policies and everyone is in a standby mode.

Now I need to hire employees, my 1st one being a Solar Design n Installation Engineer. This is getting very difficult, esp in India. I need someone with 1.5-2yrs experience. Is it too much to ask? Training a electrical engineer has become very very costly n then there is the attrition problem, but for now doesn't look like I have much of a choice !!!

Anyone interested??

Good things

A new post from a one time regular blogger, reminded me that there is an end to everything. Especially in the internet age of this 21st century nothing stays forever. Blogging was a fad few years back, though the original idea of a blog was to have an online journal, it slowly turned into a place where people could find audience for their thoughts, and later it was just about the audience and no of comments. Not that I have anything against it, but it wouldn't really work for long coz you'd have to keep up with your writing skills, stick to the theme (like the newspaper columnists do) and constantly work on luring more audience.

So was the case with myspace, next orkut, wouldbe twitter. The idea of finding audience on net is appealing but has to be constantly reworked n strategy redefined based on the mindset of your audience. You would not be able to be yourself, coz you'll have to serve to their needs. SRK can't put down his frustration on KKRs coz his audience would just be disappointed, Bachan can't scold his daughter in law even if he felt like coz thats not expected from him.

Most of the regular blogs I used to visit are in a coma, so changing the list on the right side of the page.

This is just an arbit thought, n that's what this blog is about, my thoughts. So for the minute few who read it, ignore if you got bored :)

Happy Times

So long sad times
Go long bad times
We are rid of you at last

Howdy gay times
Cloudy gray times
You are now a thing of the past

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let's sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again

Altogether shout it now
There's no one
Who can doubt it now
So let's tell the world about it now
Happy days are here again

Your cares and troubles are gone
There'll be no more from now on
From now on ...

Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So, Let's sing a song of cheer again

Happy times
Happy nights
Happy days
Are here again!

The music is even better, I just loved it !! :)

Conflict of logic

This has been killing my brain cells over the last few weeks. I had the first company advantage providing project management and services in solar industry in India, but then the national solar mission got delayed at the center due to which projects were kept on hold, and then the budget. Now when everything is set to be on track, there are umpteen companies coming up providing similar services, and they have deep pockets !!

However most of these companies are foreign companies (they charge more n never handled local work) and so the manufacturers are showing interest in my company, however the clauses in solar mission ain't fully announced and there are certain guidelines etc coming up. So the wait continues.

2011 looks great, but how do I pay the rent till then? What do I eat? Finding alternate sources of income has become equally stupid. The only other option is to find alternate business ventures, but they are dependent on other people who are delaying their own work due to xyz reasons.

A good businessman makes money today, a good manager thinks of ways to make money tomorrow, and an entrepreneur has to do both.

Survival for existence officially begins!!!!

Political Update

Black money

The Prime Minister has underlined his commitment to bring back black money deposited in foreign countries and outlined the measures taken to combat the menace that had deprived the country of its resources.

As many as 20 countries were identified for reaching agreements on exchange of information and assistance in tax collection. Negotiations with the Bahamas and Bermuda were over, paving the way for signing of agreements.

The government had sought renegotiation of the tax treaty with Switzerland and talks were held in November to finalise a protocol that would allow for obtaining information in specific cases.

excerpt from The Hindu

Whip on Women's reservation bill, black money, solar mission, increase in petroleum price, a good n strong budget ....
I like the way things are going :) Hope there is a whip on stupid acts in the rule of Mayawati, regionalism of sena and many more such 'desh premis'

Lunch ??!

My waist is moving from 30 towards 32. I haven't been jogging regularly (just started again yesterday). So for the last one week my lunch has been only liquid diet. I call it my protein shake, guess what it contains:

1. 1 cup oats
2. 1 banana
3. 1 glass slim milk
4. 1 egg
5. 1 nutribar
6. 2 teaspoons sugar
7. 5 almonds

put them in the mixer for 1min in low speed, this will amount to 2glasses of shake. which is like HEAVY!!! It is highly unlikely that you'd feel hungry till dinner. Its FULL of calories n less fat, so make sure you burn them if you are trying it out :) n for those wondering what egg would do to the taste, have no second thoughts, you wont even know that egg was in it. Banana would steal the taste, so it'd just be like a banana milk shake with chocolate flavour added but heavy.

System error

Nope this is no technical post, its much boring to you, its a political one :)

I was thinking if I get a chance or if I really do the things I intend to do, what would be the first major change I'd try to bring upon ?? !!! Now there are two ways to bring a change in the system, one be a part of the system, another bend the system...ofcourse I'd chose the 2nd. And like any other day my brain went into an infinite thinking mode and decided that the 1st thing I might want to do is :
Bring the police jurisdiction under governor and not home minister, and ultimately the whole police (including NSG, ATF, CBI, ACB, CID, GreyHounds, etc etc) will report to the President of India just like the army. Imagine the changes it could bring, no police would be afraid of politicians, no police would even get a chance to beg politicians for promotion n inturn very less political influence. It'd work as a separate entity and laws made by them would include for the politicians.
More strict laws, more discipline, more integrity, ofcourse corruption would have its place but less politically inclined, there would be no change of duties when govt changes, no off line promotions, Public-Private partnership in arms n ammunitions development, synchronization in the dept across the country, best inline training.

Well I'd agree there are downsides too, but as far as I see this is the best option I could find for a more bright India !!! Any other practical ideas??!!

The "Holy war"

Awesome picture captured (courtesy Hindu 6th Feb on a different topic though). Isn't this the true reason behind the young generation going for armed rebillion. Most poeple don't even know the motive behind their fight, tsch tsch.

A little frustrated with the way things are going
1. Pakistan response to 26/11
2. Telangana
3. Mumbai n sena
4. Kashmir
5. Mayawati n her statues

huh!! I won't talk about them coz there is nothing to discuss. Its regionalism at its peak hurting the national integration. Luckily there is no religion involved yet.
What I feel I lost:
1. Right to equality
2. Right to freedom
3. Right to freedom from exploitation
4. Cultural and educational rights

4 out of the 6 fundemental rights. and If I were a Muslim, I'd consider losing the right to religious freedom as well with all the 'random checks' and prying.

Right to property is anyway deleted, so no point thinking about it.

tsch tsch ... A very good morning India

Videolog

edit: found he idea dumb + couldnt find a place with good lighting inside my house for a quality video. hence .......... dump

Yup, as the title aptly suggests, this is my 1st video log. Started with relationships. I started it to test my webcam and then went on. Have a lot of scope for improvement though.

1. Very bad audio quality, lot of noise.
2. Bad lighting.
3. Poor eye contact (I wrote down a few pointers, its not totally extempore).
4. Worst background and posture.

I hope to continue this series as I observed it takes much less time to post a video log than a weblog, selecting the topic 1min, noting down a few pointers 5mins, recording the video 5mins, editing if necessary 2mins, total of 15mins. Ofcourse doesn't mean I'll stop writing: everything has its place.

PS: The 'never ending post' has been updated.

Warrior within

I ran, yes I literally ran. I ran as fast as I could, and when I was out of breath I ran further. Wondering what I'm getting at? This is another of those self praise posts :D

6months back I hurt my knee while playing badminton and had to go through a surgery. Doctors told me I'd have to use a walking stick for 1month, I'll not be able to use the stairs for 3months, can't drive for 6months and cant play/run for an yr. Everyone who knew me were very happy that I'd finally stay home for a while, but ofcourse none of them happened.

I used the stick for 15days, once the stitches were removed I never used it.
I used the stairs within a month, people scared the shit out of me, nevertheless I did.
I started driving after 3months, well I told myself it was too heavy on my pocket to get a cab daily.
I started jogging after 6months, a little. I jog for maybe 1km in bits n pieces and walk rest of 7km (4.3miles total).
Totaly I started running, and I feel no pain :D I was soo happy, I feel like the fighter from one of those movies, that was the picture I had in mind while I was running hehe.

PS1: I put on lot of weight, now should get back to normal. phew!
PS2: I don't know if this qualifies as self praise or rant :D ...its just arbit

The never ending post...

This is going to be a never ending post, I'll keep editing this forever n ever.

One day, one fine day in future, IF I ever get to own an island or rule a region, what would be my ideas:

1. No tax on food, min duty on food imports. I wish no one should ever worry about food, and yes ice creams and chocolates are very much a part of food :P
2. Free trade everywhere. No charges on sky n water.
3. Air pollution will be charged very highly, and renewables would be made compulsory.
4. Capitalists can get everything they wish for, including highly skilled labor n duty free land.
5. Free n compulsory education.
6. Strict NO to reservation of any kind but for physically and mentally challenged.
7. Nothing comes free for anyone, no beggars.
8. Public transportation is highly efficient and very cheap.
9. Shops would be allowed to be open 24hrs. (I still don't know why business cant be run during the nights!! bowls me) [If anyone still reads my blog n knows a genuine reason please let me know, I'll try to find out n update in future]
10. Electricity is free upto x units, beyond that would be costly.
11. The intensity of punishment and importance of case is directly proportional to the number of people effected and nature of abuse (physical or emotional).
12. Freedom of speech and freedom of press is given. But only if published with facts, else all false rumors will directly lead to high penalty and/or loss of license.
13. High taxes on vehicles run on non-renewables, and min/no taxes on other vehicles.
14. Borders/boundaries will be based on area of land, and not on any other differences.
15. Doesn't matter which region/caste/religion the person originally belonged to, coz without reservations people won't make a deal out of it.
16. Police have latest weapon and necessary technology, including best inhouse vehicles.
17. Farmers get the right to price their goods, however only if they sell in retail. Help will be provided by govt.
18. I don't mind if someone makes a few bucks for skipping few protocols and granting favors for monetary benefits, not a major offence will be punished with a fine as long as the act doesn't harm public (ex: favouring tenders, excusing public nuisance ..etc), but if anyone is seeking a bribe for doing the work he is supposed to do, he is immediately dismissed (ex: bribe for sanctioning pensions, serious building norm violations, seeking money in govt hospitals etc).
19. Remotely controlled webcams in all govt offices, cannot be switched off locally.
20. No file/petition should be pending for more than 30days. Each file is tracked and escalated after 30days where it stays for 10days before further esclataion. Max hierarchy is 4levels. [This will generate 1000s of jobs too]
21. Children of parents who are implicated in more than 3cases are sent to boarding schools run by govt. The parents will be able to visit their child like any other kid. This is to ensure children do not have to follow the path of their parents, and be well educated.
22. No beggars on streets, nothing comes free from govt to anyone who is between 18-60yrs and not handicapped.
23. Police report directly to me(on my island) or to the President if its a country:) No direct political influence on police.

....to be continued

[a link is posted on the right bar for future]

What Tarot are you ?

You are The Sun

Happiness, Content, Joy.

The meanings for the Sun are fairly simple and consistent.

Young, healthy, new, fresh. The brain is working, things that were muddled come clear, everything falls into place, and everything seems to go your way.

The Sun is ruled by the Sun, of course. This is the light that comes after the long dark night, Apollo to the Moon's Diana. A positive card, it promises you your day in the sun. Glory, gain, triumph, pleasure, truth, success. As the moon symbolized inspiration from the unconscious, from dreams, this card symbolizes discoveries made fully consciousness and wide awake. You have an understanding and enjoyment of science and math, beautifully constructed music, carefully reasoned philosophy. It is a card of intellect, clarity of mind, and feelings of youthful energy.

history is written by those who win, not by those who are nice

worth mentioning

A friend of mine, not a very close friend just an acquaintance, but still a friend was recently diagonized with ATHD (Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder). Luckily for her she has a supportive boyfriend. She has to do something or the other always, can't sit idle, can't have a straight continuous thought. It is usually seen only in children and fades away with age and medication, but poor she is still on medication at 21.

Wednesday, January 6, 2010

You know one of those days when you are hyper cool or hyper active, today is one of those days for me (I know I know, half the days I'm hyper more than necessary, to an extent that people get bugged), and the reason I have no clue probably I woke up on the right side of the bed ;)
I finished most of my long pending work, I couldn't work at home so went to Barista ordered a nice coffee, opened my laptop sat for 2.5hrs straight and finished work pending last 2 weeks. I came back home, arranged a table, chair, mosquito coil on the terrace, pulled extension cord and net cable, continued to work while listening to music. Its sooooooo lovely out here that I can't stop being proud of myself wrt the arrangement, and can't believe I didn't think about it earlier !!

I made some awesome plans on the right usage of our terrace, which I'll post after the plans have been implemented.

Did I tell you we have a guitar in our room now, oh yeah S rox!! He brought it, still in the process of learning to tune it.

Did I tell you I became a HUGE fan of LinkedIn, I registered like in most other famous social networking sites but this is something that ACTUALLY came in handy (unlike in Orkut where you receive 'can we be friends' requests, Ohhhh yeah even we guys do !!! dorks get a life)

Did I tell you I'm going to IIMA on WORK :D [will update whole story after its actually done]

Did I tell you I'll run out of cash soon and I haven't yet found an immediate source of income :(

Did I tell you I met a long lost school friend of mine on facebook (thanks to friend suggestions) (always feels nice getting in touch with old buddies, esp from school).

Did I tell you I still don't like twitter inspite of all the support it gets from my friends n all, donno why I just don't get the idea of shouting every 10mins of your life on web.

Did I tell you that if you have read the whole post, your life is as boring as mine ? :P

Did I tell you that I recently learnt you could extract gold and silver from electronic waste ? shhhhhhhhhhhh.... secret

PS: If anyone is wondering why the posts are getting more personal, I'm trying my BEST to not talk about politics, esp AP politics. Not really interested to post movie reviews, nothing worthy enough happening across the rest of the globe (I think this is how people will die in 2012: out of boredom) and I strongly believe mosquitoes will take over the world very soon, very very soon.

The new year blah blah post

Edit: The netbook wasn't bought by me, a group of friends paid for it, the prev post on thanking people was inspired by their act. So much moved that I bragged abt it to everyone I know :)

People ask me how 2009 was and how the decade of 2000s was, and I realise wtf let my blog also join the boring gang of new yr posts, not that I have anything against new yr celebrations but making sure you post on new yrs is soo stereotypical (so I'm posting on 2nd :P)

2001-2003: +2 at Goutham Gudavalli, 2 of the best years of my life unlike for many others. Hostel life with close friends, celebrity treatment as I was in IIT batch, pampering parents as I was away from home, some real good new friends (no time for girls, too busy studying) :)

2003-2007: IIIT-Hyd, life altering (afterall thats what college is all about), made me change more than 200% I'll say from a sucker to a psycho :P, less in classes n more outside including coll politics, made few good friends again, n I had a pack of hostiles also (long story). There are no stoned in Hyd we didn't turnover, no restaurants unexplored (thanks to Pratibha scholarship ;) ). I would'nt count them to be my best years (infact quite a bit opposite) but they definitely were life altering and very very thought provoking (outside the class). Made me believe in myself n dream of the future.

2007-Oct2009: DELL Inc, when I didn't sit for all those companies offering wooping amount of salaries my friends warned me and few others mocked me, but I guess everyone agreed with my point of view after they saw my life in Dell. Its a nice place to be, but for recession ofcourse. Esp I got a chance to work, play, have fun, study outside IT, learn and more importantly got apt recognition at every chance. I again learnt a lot about life n as such. Thanks to my managers for all the support, poor me I don't to bitch about my managers like others :D

  • Jan 2009: ER beeeeeeeeeeep .
  • Feb 2009: Dumped my bplans due to recession.
  • Mar 2009: No promotions or hikes at work due to recession. S again beeeeeeeeeeep :). Cousins marriages, loved the weddings, was very much part of them. Unlike most 20 somethings, I like social gatherings, ofcourse not for very long; I like to make an entry, wish everyone, know what people are upto, have nice food n leave. Nothing more nothing less :)
  • Apr 2009: Life is good with lot of concerts, professionally really good with few awards n recognitions, made few new friends. Met U.
  • May 2009: work work n more work. I didn't sleep for 3days at a stretch, strange thing no one forced me to it, it was voluntary. Ofcourse recognized for my efforts again :).
  • Jun 2009: Leg surgery, I tore a ligament playing badminton or cycling. I neglected it for the last few months and here is a surgery.
  • Jul 2009: Back to work from home in 3days post surgery and 15days back to office with a walking stick :D.
  • Sep 2009: Nothing eventful for the last few months, resigned to work this month and last working day would be Oct 15th just a day before my 25th bday. Surprised people, but thanks to my surgery I got time to convince my parents. M left for MBA, I'm REALLY happy for her, atleast someone listened to me n took the right decision, but I'll miss a good friend :)
  • Oct 2009: I'm finally out of IT world, hopefully forever. Promised myself I won't spend anything untill I find a source of income. A rush of ideas. Some contacts who want me to join with them in startup. Few other contacts offering me backup IT jobs if I ever decide to come back. My bday actually celebrated by my friends and colleagues (I never did), the struggle for survival begins ....

hmmm looking back at it nothing 'happy' this year actually na, but somehow I was always happy :) Good for me hehe...I didn't mention everything from 2009 but thats more of less it. Hopefully the new yr 2010 will be more eventful n lot more exciting both professionally and otherwise.

    Happy new year folks :)
